About Us

Meet the Founders

Nick Rose and Dr Josey De Rossi understand first-hand how school leaders and teachers work together in planning and delivering high-quality curriculum.

Dr Josey De Rossi

Dr Josey De Rossi

Co-Founder & Education Leader

Dr Josey De Rossi has been a pioneering leader in outcomes-based education reforms. She has written seven textbooks (six for Years 10-12 Drama and one for Primary Arts) and worked with WA’s Assessment and Reporting branch to refine student outcome statements.

Following her research at UWA's Graduate School of Education, Josey spent two decades investigating the 'cognitive turn' in English and Theatre teaching, enabling students to utilize creative approaches for oral language skills.

Recently, she contributed to the structured literacy program at The Grange P-12 College, bringing rigor and research-informed passion to curriculum design.

“Josey De Rossi distinguished herself as one of our most passionate, research-informed teachers. She taught the Core Literacy curriculum with rigour and fidelity...” — Clara Tran, Leading Teacher, The Grange P-12 College

Nick Rose

Co-Founder & Curriculum Content Editor

Nick is a teacher and experienced curriculum content editor driven by a singular goal: developing curriculum materials that inspire teachers and students.

As the Founder and first Chair of the Curriculum Writers Association Australia (CWAA), Nick has dedicated his career to breaking down the silos of traditional educational practices, fostering a collegiate culture where professional knowledge is freely shared.

Nick advocates for strong school relationships and pedagogical change. He views Generative AI not as a shortcut, but as a site for continuous evaluation, critical human reasoning, and sophisticated teacher agency.

“Nothing motivates Nick more than growing the agency of school-based decision making, bridging the gap between emerging technology and sound pedagogical outcomes.” — Curriculum Makers Philosophy
Guiding Philosophy

Our Principles

We believe AI is most powerful when it amplifies professional collaboration and reinforces high standards of teaching pedagogy.

01

School-Based Collegiality

AI in curriculum design is most effective when its integration is realized through school-based collegiality, bridging leaders and teachers in PLCs and other team structures.

02

Metacognitive Practice

Working effectively with Generative AI tools necessitates employing deep, intentional metacognitive thinking processes by both teachers and students.

03

Teacher Well-Being First

A teacher's professional well-being and sustainability must be achieved simultaneously with student-centered, rigorous approaches to teaching and learning.

04

Confident Modeling

Confident, supported teachers are far more likely to model the effective, critical, and ethical use of artificial intelligence for their students.

05

Cognitive Control

Leaders and teachers best control AI through understanding the foundational similarities and differences between human reasoning and the AI's agentic reasoning.

06

Professional Standards

The scope of interacting with AI is best managed by linking curriculum design and prompting directly to the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers.

“

We need to construct our own meaning, in our own context, of a collaborative learning community … It is not a checklist of factors, it is a mindset as much as a map... It is taking responsibility for our craft, our own development and that of our students; it is ensuring our future.

Carole Cooper & Julie Boyd in the South Australian Teaching for Effective Learning Framework Guide
Our Methodology

CM Collaborative Enactment Cycle™

Our structured, four-phase approach ensures teaching teams successfully implement AI curriculum design within a collaborative, professional learning community.

01
Phase 1

Establishing the Shared Baseline

AI acts as a gatekeeper to help the PLC team focus on complex curriculum frameworks. Teachers define the non-negotiable data-led knowledge, understanding, and skills (KUD) baseline, reclaiming valuable time and cognitive energy before interacting with Large Language Models.

02
Phase 2

Co-Designing the Big Idea

Teams shift from passively covering content to designing a shared intellectual journey. Using AI's agentic reasoning, the PLC deconstructs dense standards into a scope and sequence anchored by a compelling, creative "Big Idea" for all students.

03
Phase 3

Co-Constructing Rigour

AI functions as a critical partner and auditor to ensure student achievement. The PLC designs assessment rubrics collaboratively from the outset, guaranteeing consistent, equitable expectations and coherence across all classrooms in the cohort.

04
Phase 4

Collaborative Enactment

Static lesson plans transform into dynamic, real-time responses. The PLC creates a living dashboard (integrated with existing school software) tracking daily classroom realities to adapt pedagogy instantly, forming a data-rich agenda for future PLC meetings.
